What Buyers Asked Us Most at Impressions Expo Long Beach 2026

Impressions Expo Long Beach always brings together a wide mix of people from the decorated apparel industry.. Printers. Decorators. Resellers. Brand builders. People testing a new idea. People scaling something that is already working.
That is what made this year’s show so useful for us.
From January 22–24, 2026, Apparel Factory® was at Booth #585 at the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center, meeting buyers who wanted to see fabrics in person, compare blanks, ask direct questions, and figure out what would work best for their business. And that is really what Impressions Expo Long Beach is built for. The show is positioned as one of the decorated apparel industry’s biggest meeting points, bringing together exhibitors, new product ideas, workshops, and thousands of professionals across printing, embroidery, DTG, DTF, and blank apparel.
We brought the blanks. Buyers brought the questions.
Here are the ones we heard most often.
1. Which styles are working best right now?
This came up all day.
Not in a trend-report kind of way. In a business decision kind of way.
Buyers wanted to know which pieces were actually moving for decorators, merch brands, retail programs, gyms, and teamwear. The most talked-about styles at our booth made that answer pretty clear:

That mix tells you a lot about where the market is. Buyers were clearly looking for blanks that can do one of two things well: print cleanly or carry more presence on their own. Sometimes both.
The AF810 stood out with printers who wanted a smoother, reliable surface for DTF work. The AF900 got attention from buyers leaning into heavyweight and streetwear-driven fits under our ProLine by AF® series. The AF909 sparked conversations around pigment dyeing and custom washes. AF510 – Oversized Tee and AF590 – Short Sleeve Polo from the UV ProTech® series were highlighted for their plaited interlock knit construction, featuring a cotton outer layer for a decoration-ready surface and a polyester inner layer for effective moisture wicking. And the AF360 hoodie kept pulling people in because fleece still matters when the hand feel is right.
2. How well does this garment actually print?
This was probably the biggest practical question at the booth.
Not just “Is it printable?” but “How does it behave when we run it?”
That difference matters.
A lot of buyers at Long Beach were not browsing casually. They were evaluating blanks the way working shops evaluate blanks, by surface, feel, weight, finish, and how predictable the result will be once the job starts. That lines up with what makes this show important in the first place. Impressions Expo highlights live demos, hands-on testing, and real-world applications, which is exactly why buyers come ready with technical questions.
For us, the conversations kept circling back to decoration-readiness:

That is why buyers spent time touching, stretching, comparing, and asking follow-up questions. In this category, nobody wants surprises after a bulk order lands.
3. Do you have blanks that feel premium, not just basic?
Yes. And this question came up more than ever.
There is a clear shift in what buyers expect from blanks. A basic tee is still useful. But “basic” no longer means thin, generic, or forgettable. More buyers now want garments that feel shelf-ready, brand-ready, or streetwear-ready from day one.
That is one reason heavyweight and oversized styles pulled so much attention at the booth.
Even when buyers came in asking about a printable blank, the conversation often moved toward drape, density, silhouette, and whether the garment had enough body to stand on its own as a finished product. That matches what others covering the show noticed too: despite all the talk around new print equipment and DTF innovation, apparel was still a central attraction at Long Beach, especially among blanks manufacturers.
The takeaway was simple. Buyers are not only sourcing something to decorate. They are sourcing something their own customer will want to wear again.
4. Can one supplier support both blanks and brand-building?
This question showed up in different forms, but the intent was the same.
Some buyers were pure decorators. Some were resellers. Some were launching a label. Some had started as printers and were slowly becoming brand owners. They did not just want inventory. They wanted options.
That is where the conversations got interesting.
Because the need is no longer only “I need a blank tee.” The need is often closer to:
I need a blank tee that prints well now, can scale later, and still makes sense if I move into something more custom.
That is why interest was strong around pieces like the AF909 and AF900, where the blank itself already opens up more creative room.

It was worth-it
What we liked most about Impressions Expo Long Beach 2026 was how direct the conversations were.
And honestly, it is one of the best parts of showing up in person. You get to hear what buyers are thinking before it turns into a market report six months later.
